HOW DID THIS ALL START?
WELL, HERE’S MY STORY…
For many years, I had been making short and simple picture book accompaniments as well as chapter summaries for my students to help them visualize and understand plot points and characters. I quickly saw just how effective they were for all types of learners.
As a Speech-Language Pathologist and Special Education teacher for over 25 years, I decided to create SIMPLE NOVEL SUMMARIES to provide students, teachers, and parents with simplified study materials of both classic and modern novels for easier comprehension at the middle and high school levels.
By using fun visuals, large fonts, bullet points, and simple explanations of events, locations, etc., it was clear that most students would benefit from this type of breakdown for novels that could otherwise be considered long, wordy, confusing, or, worst of all, boring. So I made it my goal to dig into each book that crossed my desk and come up with short and sweet resources that any reader at any level would be able to grasp and use to their advantage.
Naturally, I then began sharing the resources with my students’ teachers, and the feedback I would get was overwhelmingly positive. They were able to use my materials and print them out in the classroom or during one-on-one study sessions, and the results were encouraging.
Based on that, I offered these resources to my students’ parents, so they could work with their kids at home and quickly understand the key information without having to spend hours reading a book they may have read 30 years ago but have no real memory of. But here, everyone was able to quickly jump into the main characters, plot points, etc., and grasp what may seem like a lot of information in a fun and simple way.
So I’ve organized all of these summaries and picture book accompaniments for purchase here (as well as on Teachers Pay Teachers), and I hope you’ll get as much out of them as I believe you will.
Thank you for visiting my store, and if you are looking for something that you don’t see here, please reach out to me via email and let me know how I can help. I am always happy to take requests!
